Stuart's Ultimate Breakthrough
Most of us suffer from illnesses during the course of our life, in fact, it'd be quite hard to find someone who had never been ill. It seems it's become a natural process in our world. Here Stuart Otten, from Liverpool, looks at how his illness had affected his life and why it's no longer a problem.
When I was twenty five years old, I had a period of blacking out and I didn’t know why it was happening. Before I blacked out I would feel really nauseous and get very hot and sweaty. There was also a strange smell associated with it. At its worst, I would have blackouts twice a week. The worst incident I can remember was on a train. It was about two o’clock in the afternoon, so there was loads of football traffic and the train was crowded. When I was getting on the train I remember feeling really sick and uncomfortable. The next thing I can remember was complete blackness. I woke up on the floor with paramedics all around me in the middle of the train station. I was rushed to hospital. I didn’t know what was going on. I ended up staying in hospital for two months. The doctors did loads of tests to find out what was wrong and discovered it was diabetes that I had been suffering from.
Following on from that, I lost a lot of weight – I lost five stone in a year. The church I was in had a guest speaker coming called Pastor Tim Hall. He has a miracle healing power from God, so I decided I would give it a try. Getting ready to go, I prepared myself for something special to happen. When I got there, Pastor Tim was praying for people, so I put my hand up and went down to the front. As soon as he prayed for me I felt really different. In my mind it was like something had snapped that said ‘you’re healed, you’re fine’. I went to see my doctor who did all the checks – everything read ‘normal’.
Not having diabetes has allowed me to get on with life and be normal. I feel like my faith has been strengthened so much. It’s a belief in the unseen, a belief in the unbelievable. If I can believe in an unseen God that can do unseen things, then I can do anything. I can do the impossible and that’s what’s happened. If you believe in the impossible, in the power of God, then you can do anything.
